Is it Monday again already? Well, time for our second cup of coffee and a quick chat then☕️

Last week I spoke a bit about consistency, and I hope you got a little insight out of it.

Bottom line - it is the most basic foundation of anything worth achieving.

So, good to have a reliable system in place for it.

It probably wasn’t the most fun topic, but hey - can’t talk about comics every week…

On that note, today is about the Comic Book!

Specifically, Thandi, our leading lady.

And you get to shape her!

First, what is this comic about again?

The Scary Management Comic Book series is about management.

It takes you along for Thandi's journey from senior developer to first-time manager of a team with a bit of a rough reputation. With help from her mentor, Anand, Thandi faces all the messy, uncomfortable parts of leading people—turning her fears and doubts into real leadership development breakthroughs.

Organogram of key characters in the Comic Book. Thandi is a newly minted manager

The comic is based on the Scary Management Playbook, which is full of relatable lessons, drawing on ideas like Robin Sharma’s "Lead Without a Title" and Stephen Covey's "7 Habits of Highly Effective People."

If you're stepping into management or dealing with the chaos that comes with leading a team, this comic book is here to bring you some insight.

It’s a reminder that while managing people can be scary, it’s also where the best growth happens, both for you and your team, when you lead with empathy and courage.

Now, a bit about Thandi before you decide her look

Thandi is a young South African woman in her early 30s in the corporate world.

She’s making the transition from senior developer to acting manager.

Nervous but excited, Thandi must tackle the challenges of managing a team, while learning, and finding her own leadership style.

Her journey is full of struggles, surprising victories, and valuable lessons that will resonate with anyone that manages people.

Throughout her journey, Thandi learns to balance hard management skills, like organizing and decision-making, with the magic of soft skills that truly energize a team. She faces hurdles like team conflict, gaining the team’s trust, handling poor performance, and delivering a critical project under tight deadlines.

Under the mentorship of Anand, Thandi grows more confident with each challenge, discovering how to turn the scariest parts of management into her superpower—

managing and transforming her team for success!

Ok let’s pause for a sec and take a sip of coffee…

PS: In case you missed it - here’s a quick look at Anand’s profile again

I had fun creating Anand’s character profile and mapping out his journey. Since I originally posted, I made a few minor updates - check out some interesting bits here again before you go.

Many were disappointed that thinning-hair Anand didn’t win the looks vote outright.

A successful career - but how much success has he created for others?
