2025 - The year of AI Agents
What are they? How to use them? A quick intro...
Morning my friend, hope your weekend was great!
Time for your Monday morning Scary Management coffee fix☕️
I’ve been following the developments in AI keenly as I leverage many of the tools with creating the Comic Book and this newsletter. I have limited time, and need to maximize it by eliminating, automating, delegating as much as possible while still delivering quality to your inboxes.
What’s emerging is that 2025 is going to be the year of AI Agents.
So today’s letter gives a high level overview, to hopefully catch you up on what’s going on. Important to be prepared to take advantage of this exciting development…
Grab your coffee and let’s go!
PS: In case you missed it, the draft release of the Scary Management Comic Book was sent out as a Christmas present last year: Merry Xmas! Here's a present specially for you - the Comic! Check it out, and I’d love your feedback for improvement - the comic public launch date on Amazon.com is set for 31 March 2025!

AI Agents: The Next Big Leap in Tech
This isn’t just hype.
The big tech billionaires are calling it a real game-changer.
Why? Because AI agents don’t just respond like chatbots; they can sense, think, and act to handle tasks automatically.
And you can build a team of agents to accomplish complicated workflows completely autonomously.
I couldn’t help but draw a parallel to The Matrix (1999) and so, Agent Smith is also here to share his thoughts.

In 1999’s The Matrix, Agent Smith was essentially also an AI Agent…
What Are AI Agents Exactly?
AI tools such as Chatgpt and MS Copilot serve as chatbots that can respond to human prompting.
An AI Agent however, does not require prompting.
An AI agent is an AI with Agency.
It acts on it’s own.
But how?

Nandan Mullakara explains how perfectly in this video:
“Every tool we have made so far from the wheel to your smartphone has been in your complete control they only do what you want them to do. But what happens when tools have agency and can think for themselves? Not just think but sense what's happening around them and actually do stuff for you?” - Nandan Mullakara, BotNirvana.
AI agents combine three core abilities:
Sense – They scan or observe their environment (like your computer screen, websites, or documents).
Think – Using advanced models (like ChatGPT or Claude), they plan out the best actions to take.
Act – They follow through by filling out forms, sending emails, scheduling your appointments—whatever gets the job done.

That’s cool, but how did this suddenly happen?
Up until very recently, our “tools” could not sense, think and act.
This giant leap in AI autonomy is possible thanks to a confluence of three major tech breakthroughs which have taken decades to get to this point:
GPUs (Graphics Processing Units): Powerful chips can handle huge amounts of AI computations. Quantum Computing is now a reality and will take this compute power to the next level - Google has developed the Willow chipset.
Deep Learning: Neural networks have advanced to the point that they can mimic the human brain. Reasoning has become a reality recently with ChatGPT’s o1 model, and we are close to and Artificial General Intelligence and Artificial Super Intelligence.
Vast Online Data: Billions of texts, images, and videos on the internet give AI a rich multimodal training ground.
For the first time, consumer-level AI can truly “think” and “act,” opening up massive possibilities for productivity, innovation, and more.
What’s the Big Deal?
Productivity Boost: AI agents take on repetitive tasks—like research, scheduling, or data entry—so you can focus on what matters most.
24/7 Monitoring: In healthcare, for example, agents can watch patient data around the clock, alerting doctors the moment something looks off.
Automation at Scale: Businesses can deploy AI agents to handle everything from customer support to marketing campaigns, cutting costs and reducing human error.
Leveling the Playing Field: Small teams can do the work of larger organizations by offloading grunt work to AI, giving them a competitive edge.
Industries from manufacturing to finance are already tapping AI agents to handle complex workflows. Whatever your menial and repetitive tasks are, agentic AI platforms can dramatically simplify your day-to-day routine—and that’s what makes them so exciting.

Need a personal assistant? We do too, that’s why we use AI.

Where to Go From Here
Ready to jump in? Here’s how to get started:
Try AI “Brains”: Experiment with platforms like ChatGPT or MS Copilot. Ask them to summarize an article or suggest ideas—you’ll quickly see how capable they are.
Learn Prompt Engineering: Think of it as next-level Googling. Well-crafted prompts lead to smarter AI responses.
Build a Simple Agent: Many platforms are now available to create/hire AI agents. No heavy coding required.

There are already many platforms available to choose from. Exciting times ahead!
Get stuck in now! A little curiosity goes a long way. As AI agents become mainstream, those who adapt early will have a major advantage—so why not figure out how to let an AI agent do some of your tedious tasks? I know I’m jumping in over the next couple weeks.
Closing thoughts - Looking Ahead
Over the coming weeks and months, I’ll be diving deeper into how AI agents work and how to implement them effectively in my different workflows.
Lord knows I need the productivity boosts to cope with the workloads of my day job and my scarymanagement.com venture.
I’ll share my findings and tips in upcoming blog posts, so you can upskill alongside me. But if you have already played around with agents, I’m keen to hear about it - reply and let me know via email!
Let’s learn together - how to leverage these digital helpers in life and work.
Thanks for reading and see you next week, friend!
